Parasite Genomics Protocols, Second Edition expands upon the previous edition with current, detailed methodologies that have been adapted to research parasites in the post genomic era. Written in the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology series format, chapters include introductions to their respective topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents, step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls.

In collaboration with the Guinea worm eradication programme, the parasite genomics group is using genome analysis to determine the epidemiological link between the growing number of canine cases and the persistence of "sporadic" human cases. The Pf3k project is a global collaboration using the latest sequencing technologies to provide a high-resolution view of the natural variation in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. The Parasite Genomics Group is working on the assembly, annotation and manual curation of several.
WormBase is the model organism database of C.
The related resource WormBase ParaSite, is a portal for the draft genomes of parasitic helminths. The Infection Genomics Programme investigates the common underpinning mechanisms of evolution, infection and resistance to therapy in viruses, bacteria and parasites. The Programme also focuses on the genetics of host response to infection and the role of the microbiota in health and disease. We develop and enhance high-throughput tools and technologies for malaria research to enable us to understand specific biological problems relevant for malaria control and to understand the fundamental science of human host, mosquito vector and Plasmodium pathogen.
The Kwiatkowski group investigates Plasmodium, Anopheles and human genome variation in large clinical and epidemiological studies carried out with partners in over 20 malaria-endemic countries. The Pathogen Informatics team develop and maintain software applications and systems to support the research activities of the Parasites and Microbes programme. We develop and maintain scalable and robust automated tools for sequence and annotation tracking and analysis and provide ad-hoc informatics support and training to the researchers in the programme.
The Cell Surface Signalling Laboratory investigates the molecular basis of cellular recognition processes to identify new therapeutic targets for both genetic and infectious diseases.
